WHS Construction
Partnership
The
2009-2010 Waukon High School Construction Partnership project is
underway. New home construction is progressing at the building
site located at 1010 Donald Lane in the Schon Addition.
Mr. Hemann and his construction class are in charge of
building the 1459 square foot, three bedroom, two bathroom home.
CAD (Computer
Aided Drafting) students designed the home. Interior design
students will be working with the CAD Class to come up with the
finishing material, colors, textures, floors, and landscape design.
Accounting students are in charge of record keeping and budgeting.
The computer Applications II students created this Web page and are
writing newsletters to update the project participants on the progress
of the building project. The Web Design class is also assisting
the with the project. Agriculture and horticulture students will
do the landscaping in the spring.
This project is providing an excellent opportunity for
students to gain real world learning experiences. As you can see, many
classes are involved in the building, promoting, budgeting, designing,
and landscaping of the house.

Funding the
Project
This
project would not be possible without the support and vision of
members of this community.
Dick
Prestemon has graciously agreed to pay for all of the building
materials and other expenses. He will be reimbursed when
the house is sold. Area contractors have agreed to go
unpaid for their labor until the house is sold.
Any
funds that remain after Mr. Prestemon and area contractors
involved with the project have been paid will be invested in
equipment and supplies necessary to continue with and expand the
Construction Partnership Project for next year.
